Southern Illinois Ducky Derby

Special Olympics Illinois is excited for the annual Southern Illinois Ducky Derby set to take place this Sunday, September 1 at the Du Quoin State Fair Ground. This beloved summer event features the spectacular splashdown of an expected 12,500 rubber ducks at 3:00 p.m. and then a race to the finish line. The Southern Illinois Ducky Derby kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with fun activities, entertainment and giveaways.
To enter the race, participants can adopt a duck starting at $5. Each duck represents a chance to win exciting prizes including the grand prize of $5,000 courtesy of SIU Credit Union. Other prizes include whole hog with processing along with a 5 cubic foot deep freezer and a grill; Palm Island adults-only vacation package; St. James’s Club Antigua family-friendly vacation package; The Club Barbados adults-only vacation package; St. Louis getaway; and NASCAR Cup Series race tickets and passes.
Ducks can be adopted individually or in packages at http://duckyderbydash.com. On the day of the race, ducks can be adopted in person or while supplies last.
This fundraiser raises critical funds and awareness for the incredible athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. This organization supports an inclusive community of more than 24,000 traditional athletes, Young Athletes, peer partners, and Unified partners.
