Herrin High School girls basketball coach Chris Roberts said Tuesday he is stepping away from his position after 5 seasons with the Tigers. Herrin finished 16-14 this season and captured the West Frankfort Mid-Winter Classic last month. Assistant coach Mike Mooneyham is also stepping aside:

The Johnston City Indians bounced back from an overtime loss in Week 8 with a big 38-6 win at Carmi-White County in Week 9. Matt Varney spoke with Johnston City head coach Todd Thomas about the bounce back and Saturday's playoff game against Auburn.
The Carterville Lions impressed last week with wins over Vienna and Herrin. That earned them the Team of the Week award. The Lions also earned the #1 seed at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament with those wins.
