A former officer with the Cairo Police Dept. was arrested and charged with attempting to illegally buy a gun.

42-year old Anthony Neeley was arrested in Pulaski County on Tuesday night by State Troopers. He is accused of attempting to illegally purchase guns while working with the Cairo Police Department back in March.

Neeley faces three to five years in prison, and his next court appearance will be this coming Monday at the Alexander Co. Courthouse.
