Centerstone has received a $1.36 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration to create Training to Work.

Training to Work will expand and enhance Centerstone’s existing services in Illinois that assist adults transitioning back to the working community. The new program will assist 170 adults—with an emphasis on veterans—in Jackson and Franklin counties, which have poverty, crime and recidivism rates at or above the national average. The program will focus on individuals who have been convicted under federal or state law for charges other than sexual offenses.

The grant was secured by Centerstone Research Institute, a non-profit organization that focuses on care for those with mental health and addiction disorders. It’s scheduled to begin on January  1, 2016.
