A Carbondale man was arrested after throwing a dog into the street.

39-year old Donnell Hopkins was charged with battery after police responded to a report of a fight in the 500 block of S. Illinois Avenue.

The fight reportedly took place after an argument which led to Hopkins throwing the dog.

The dog bit Hopkins several times during the altercation.

Hopkins was released with a notice to appear in city court.
