Yesterday a vote was held in regards to Senate Bill 1229, a bill which would ban strikes by public employees and also ban government lockouts during an impasse, right now that impasse being contract negotiations with AFSCME.
The Senate voted in favor of overriding the veto.
After the vote, Gov. Rauner was quoted as saying “Every Senator who voted to overturn our veto chose special interests over the taxpayers. They made it abundantly clear that they’d rather raise taxes than stand up to the politically powerful.”
The question on whether or not to override the veto now goes to the House.
