Herrin High School girls basketball coach Chris Roberts said Tuesday he is stepping away from his position after 5 seasons with the Tigers. Herrin finished 16-14 this season and captured the West Frankfort Mid-Winter Classic last month. Assistant coach Mike Mooneyham is also stepping aside:
The Harrisburg Bulldogs picked up a huge win at Carterville in Week 6 of the season, pulling off a 66-yard pass late to secure a 29-28 victory over the Lions. That puts the Bulldogs in the driver's seat for an SIRR Ohio Division conference title as they prepare to take on undefeated Murphysboro in Week 7.
