BUCKNER, Ill. (WJPF) – A man in Franklin County was shot Thursday after pointing a gun at a sheriff’s deputy.

That man was flown to an out of state hospital.  The deputy was not hurt.

Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says the deputy was initially dispatched to a home near Buckner Thursday afternoon for a domestic violence incident.  According to Bacon, a man at the scene became argumentative, eventually pointing a gun at the uniformed deputy who then opened fire.

The man’s identity has not been released.  No word on his current condition.
