We reported Wednesday about a person impersonating a police officer and conducting a traffic stop in Carbondale, now new developments suggest the person who conducted that stop is a member of the Secretary of State Police bomb squad.

Carbondale Police said in a release that the investigator was in a Department-issued bomb squad uniform, with his badge on his belt. The investigator was driving a silver, unmarked SUV.

The traffic stop was conducted because license plates were not affixed to the front or back end of the car, and the investigator was trying to determine the validity of the car’s registration.
