Last week, Murphysboro coach Gary Carter met with the voice of the Red Devils, Matt Varney, to take a look at the upcoming 2023 football season. The two talked about how the program is pivoting after graduating a large majority of last year's offense and playmakers, the conference change to the SIRR Ohio Division, Murphysboro's experienced defense, and more!
The Carterville Lions impressed last week with wins over Vienna and Herrin. That earned them the Team of the Week award. The Lions also earned the #1 seed at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament with those wins. Matt Varney and Coach Shane Hawkins discussed the big win over Herrin and the top seed at this year's EHT on this week's podcast.
Friday night Murphysboro boys' basketball coach Daryl Murphy collected his 600th career win with a 63-54 win at Massac County. Voice of the Red Devils, Matt Varney, met up with Murphy after the win to discuss the game and winning 600 games.
The Lady Vols opened the season at State Fair Community College last week going 0-2. Despite that, Coach Charlie Jones sees reason to be encouraged in his young team. He and star center Cheyenne Trotter joined Talkin Vols on Tuesday.
