ENERGY, Ill. (WJPF) – A person of interest has been detained in connection to a series of arson fires early Friday morning in Herrin and Energy.

The Energy United Methodist suffered the worst damage and is likely a total loss.  Other fires were small and resulted in minimal damage.  No injuries have been reported.

The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
