WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A Carterville man is facing charges after he was caught  with items recently stolen from a storage unit.

At about 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over Cody McKenzie, 31, of Carterville, for a traffic violation. During the stop, deputies took inventory of a number of items in McKenzie’s vehicle that they suspected were stolen. Cody McKenzie was taken to jail on an outstanding Franklin County warrant for burglary.

Later that night, the sheriff’s office was notified of a storage unit that had been broken into and items stolen. The missing property matched the items found in Cody McKenzie’s vehicle. He now faces new charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools.
