After an assessment by a psychiatrist, Derrick Burns, the man accused of sending threats against SIU through the mail, has been deemed fit to stand trial.

Burns was indicted on four counts of willfully making a bomb threat. The letters threatened bombings, rapes, arson, and the use of deadly chemical powder.

Burns is currently being held without bond in the Williamson County Jail.
