CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WJPF) – Two people are dead following a shooting in Williamson County.

Police responded to a report of an active shooter at Integrated Health in Carterville Friday morning, just before 9 a.m.

When police arrived on scene they located 32 year old Michelle Aumiller of Harrisburg with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police described the shooting as “domestic in nature” and happened about 10 feet outside the building.

Michelle was taken to Memorial Hospital in Carbondale where she later died.

The suspect was identified as 36 year old Robert Aumiller of Harrisburg. Robert and Michelle were married but estranged at the time of the incident.

Initial attempts to locate Robert were unsuccessful and it was determined he had fled the scene. As a result, multiple businesses and schools were placed on lockdown.

After a brief search, Robert Aumiller was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a field near the intersection of Cardinal Lane and Cypress Drive in Cambria.
