If and when state lawmakers put together a new capital bill, Republicans will vote for it.
Illinois Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) says depending on where the revenue is coming from, her caucus would support a new large-scale construction program, similar to the $31 billion program passed in 2009.
“In my opinion, the bigger, the better, because we have a lot of capital needs in this state,” Radogno said. “I thought the last one was actually a pretty good product and would look forward to another one.”
As for new revenue sources, Radogno says she’s willing to consider public-private partnerships, as long as whatever deal is struck with private companies leaves the state protected if something were to go wrong with the project.
