SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — Former Governor Bruce Rauner has settled a lawsuit over robocalls made during his campaigns.
The calls, made to possibly over 35,000 people, utilized a technology called ringless voicemails, which, as the name suggests, delivered voicemails to cell phones without causing them to ring. The lawsuit claimed that was a violation of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Under the settlement, Rauner agreed to pay $1 million in damages.
