The Harrisburg Bulldogs have found a new opponent for Week 5 of the IHSA football season in the Fairfield Mules. The Bulldogs received news Wednesday morning that due to a positive COVID test and contact tracing in the Du Quoin program, the Indians would not be able to compete in this Saturday’s game.
“We were very happy to find a game for this weekend,” Harrisburg coach Gabe Angelly said. “We get to play a very good Fairfield team which gives our kids an opportunity to get better.”
The Bulldogs will host Fairfield on Friday night with kickoff set for 7pm.
“We are excited about the opportunity to play a quality non-conference opponent. We typically play Harrisburg every year on the freshmen level so we are somewhat familiar with each other,” Fairfield coach Justin Townsend said. “I think it will be a very competitive game. Harrisburg is playing with a lot of confidence right now coming off their win over Herrin.”
The Bulldogs come in to Friday night with a 2-2 record, including a 35-22 win over Herrin this past Saturday. Fairfield is 4-0 on the 2021 season.
