JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — A state police trooper was hurt when their squad car was rear-ended Tuesday on Interstate 57 in Jefferson County.
At about 8:30 a.m., the trooper was dispatched to help a stranded driver whose vehicle had slid off into the median. State Police say the squad car was sitting in the left lane with it’s emergency lights on.
About 40 minutes after arriving at the scene, the trooper’s squad car was rear-ended. The trooper was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The trooper was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Nobody else was hurt.
In the past three days, ISP says six state police squad cars have been hit by passing vehicles disobeying the state’s move over law.
