SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — For the first time in months, zero new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County Sunday.

Three were reported there Saturday.

In total, over 40 new cases were reported throughout the southern Illinois region over the weekend, although some local health departments were not open on Friday, will not be open Monday, and have not yet released numbers from the weekend

The region’s test positivity rate dropped Monday to 3%.
