SALINE COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — A Carmi woman is dead after a two vehicle crash Wednesday in Harrisburg.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Route 13 and Commercial Street.

Illinois State Police say 28-year-old Whitney McKenzie was traveling west on Route 13, attempting to turn onto Commercial Street, when she failed to yield to oncoming traffic. McKenzie’s mid-sized sedan was hit by a tractor trailer. The 28-year-old died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer refused medical treatment.
