INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The SIU men’s basketball team will travel to Hinkle Fieldhouse to face Butler on Monday, December 21. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and the game will be televised nationally on FS1.

Butler leads the series, 2-1. The teams played memorable games in back-to-back seasons in the mid-2000s. SIU won at Hinkle Fieldhouse during the 2006-07 season in an ESPN BracketBusters game. Both teams were ranked in the top-15 nationally, and Jamaal Tatum’s 20 points led No. 15 SIU to a 68-64 win over No. 12 Butler.

The Bulldogs won at Banterra Center (then known at SIU Arena) the following season. Butler’s A.J. Graves hit a half-courter at the buzzer to beat the Salukis 57-55.

Bryan Mullins, now SIU’s head coach, played in each of those games for SIU.

SIU is 4-0, the program’s best start since 2015-16. Butler is 1-1 and plays against Indiana on Saturday night.

The Marion County Department of Health has approved a fan capacity of 25 percent for basketball games at Hinkle Fieldhouse this season. Tickets for Monday’s game are available through the Butler Ticket Office.
