Fines could be paid by some landlords in West Frankfort.

A $100 fine will be imposed on landlords who had not registered their properties or signed up for an inspection.

City Officials say they are looking to make sure landlords are complying with city ordinances.

Letters were first sent out at the beginning of December notifying landowners that all properties being rented out were to be registered and have an inspection scheduled, as well as paying a $50 fee.

Authorities will be looking for outdated electrical systems, leaks in ceilings, and adequate plumbing.

So far, no fines have been imposed.
