CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois officials are disparaging a Kentucky grand jury’s decision to bring no charges against Louisville police for the killing of Breonna Taylor during a drug raid gone wrong.
State and Chicago officials on Wednesday urged anyone participating in local protests in response to be peaceful. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot also asked the city’s residents to take a moment of silence in Taylor’s memory Wednesday night.
Taylor, a Black emergency medical worker, was shot multiple times by officers who entered her home on a no-knock warrant during a narcotics investigation on the night of March 13.
