An investigation is continuing in the case of a man who is behind bars after hitting and killing a bicyclist with his car.

Prosecutors say 22 year old Seth Loyd left the roadway and struck a man on a bicycle.

The victim, 33-year old Matthew Dierker of Carbondale was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Loyd was arrested for Reckless Homicide and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and is incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
