JACKSON COUNTY, IL. (WJPF) — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the person killed in Monday morning’s head on crash on US 51.

In a news release, the deceased victim is identified as 30-year-old Joseph Hill of Carbondale. Investigators say Hill crossed the center-line and hit an oncoming vehicle head on. Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.

JACKSON COUNTY, IL. (WJPF) — One person is dead, another injured after a head on crash on US 51 in Jackson County.

It happened around 9:45 A.M. Monday about a ½ mile south of the Truax Blacktop outside of DeSoto.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a southbound vehicle crossed the center-line and hit a northbound vehicle head on.

The southbound driver who crossed the center-line was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name is being withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the northbound vehicle has been identified as 31-year-old Christopher Miller of Carbondale. He suffered minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
