A town hall meeting was held in Benton Tuesday night to discuss a one percent sales tax increase in Franklin County.

That issue will be on the April Ballot there.

If passed, the money will go to build a new courthouse. The current courthouse was built in 1874.

Although most agree the new building is necessary, many fear driving away buyers of big-ticket items with higher taxes.

If passed, the measure would put Benton at 9.5 percent sales tax.
