The body of a fallen southern Illinois soldier is set to arrive home to Perry County today.

Tyler Iubelt was killed Nov 12 in a suicide bombing at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan.

His remains are set to arrive at Scott Air Force Base about 10 a.m. Iubelt’s body will have a police escort to Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

A visitation is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Iubelt’s funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.

He will be buried at Sunset Memorial Park, and military graveside rites will be conducted by the Army.

Volunteers are needed today to decorate the town with 2,000 flags to honor Iubelt. If you would like to help, you’re asked to meet at Keyes Park in Du Quoin today at 1 p.m.
