Carbondale city leaders adopted a new nuisance ordinance last night. The new rules allow the city to hold landlords responsible for repeated bad behavior by tenants – city leaders say the rules are necessary to keep houses that hold repeated unruly parties under control – some landlords at the meeting said they can’t control what tenants do.
Carbondale city leaders have also approved a proposal to build a 97 bed drug and alcohol rehab center in a vacant nursing home on South Lewis Lane. The special use permit granted by the Carbondale City Council now allows the developer to seek state licensure for the facility.
