Several Southern Illinois social service agencies are part of that lawsuit filed Wednesday by the Pay Now Illinois Coalition –

Caritas, Centerstone, Childrens Home + Aid and Lutheran Child and Family Services are part of the 64-member coalition that says the state has been enforcing their contracts to provide services to children and to low-income people with mental health issues, even though they haven’t been paid in 10 months.

The coalition says their contracts allow the state to cancel or suspend services if there is no money for them, but the Rauner administration has instead kept the contracts going.

Governor Rauner’s office has dismissed the lawsuit as an act of frustration.
