Officials have not yet come to a conclusion as to what started a wildfire near Carrier Mills just before noon yesterday.

The fire started in an area formerly used for coal mining around 11:30 am and firefighters needed to use UTV’s and ATV’s to navigate the area.

Officials say the blaze was contained around 3:30 pm.
