CARBONDALE, Ill. – Head coach Kelly Bond-White and the Southern Illinois University women’s basketball team have signed Indya Green, who is originally from Springfield, Mo.

Green is a 5-foot-11 forward who comes to SIU after spending one season at Georgia Southern. There, the forward played in all 34 games and made 31 starts as a senior. Green averaged 12.0 points-per-game and was second in the Sun Belt Conference in rebounding, averaging 8.8 rebounds-per-game.

The Springfield, Mo., native also spent two seasons at Missouri State prior to arriving at Georgia Southern.

“We could never, and I mean never, box out Indya Green,” Bond-White said. “Her physicality, grit, and most importantly toughness made her a must have of our recruiting class.”

In her final season as a member of the Lady Bears, Green played in 33 games and made 32 starts as a junior, averaging 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals across 26.1 minutes-per-game.

“What I love about this signing is Indya missed playing in the Missouri Valley,” Bond-White said. “She knew our style of play, she did her research on our graduate program. Once we got her and her family on campus, they were blown away, as the campus, university officials, our players, and recruits exceeded their expectations.”

In 2023-24, Green earned MVC All-Tournament honors after averaging 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds-per-game during the Lady Bears’ run to the championship game.

“Green’s versatility is her greatest asset,” Bond-White said. “She has played the small forward through the center position. She can consistently stretch from the 3, she excels on straight line drives, sealing and finishing at the rim, and relentlessly pursuing the rebound on both ends.”
