CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WJPF) – An Illinois State Police trooper has been killed in the line of duty.

28-year-old Trooper Corey Thompsen died from injuries he received Friday in a two vehicle crash in Champaign County. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.

Corey Thompsen had nearly five years experience as a state trooper.
