PARIS, France – Southern Illinois University alum Deanna Price advanced to the finals of the women’s hammer throw Sunday morning at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Price sits in third place after throwing 73.79m. The Moscow Mills, Mo. native threw 72.08 on her first attempt, with her qualifying mark on throw number two.
Team USA advanced two throwers to the finals, with Price being joined by teammate Annette Echikunwoke. Echikunwoke placed fourth in the qualifying round after throwing 73.52m on her first attempt.
Price will lead off the finals Wednesday, August 6, at 12:50 p.m. CT, streaming live on Peacock.
Price will look to join George Woods (1968, 1972), Garrett Hines (2002) and Raven Saunders (2021) as the Salukis who have medaled at the Olympic Games.
