FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A traffic stop has led to Fentanyl charges in Franklin County. 

On July 24th just before 5pm, a traffic stop was initiated on I57 near State Highway 154.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 27 year old Alexander Smith of West Frankfort, there was also a passenger 21 year old Nathaniel Sloan of Benton.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 198.5 Fentanyl pills. 

Sloan was arrested and faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession with the Intent to Manufacture and Deliver a Controlled Substance. 

He was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
