CARRIER MILLS, Ill. (WJPF) – Police in Carrier Mills gave an update about an investigation last night.
Around 8:15pm on July 21, the Saline Co. Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from an individual who had claimed he had shot and killed his father. The caller also stated that he was armed and barricaded in a residence close to the Carrier Mills High School and he would shoot any responding Officer.
Multiple police departments responded to the scene. A perimeter was established on the suspect location and officers eventually made entry to an unoccupied residence.
This was a “Fake” call, also known as swatting. Swatting is where false information is reported that requires a large response from emergency personnel. It is also a felony criminal offense.
The investigation is ongoing.
