MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – A juvenile was arrested for attempting to break into multiple businesses in Mount Vernon.

On Wednesday June 12, officers responded to two different alarms, the first at Thrive Dispensary at 11:44pm, and then at Smoke Start at 12:29am. 

Officers were then able to obtain video footage and get a description of the suspect. At 12:41am an officer observed a subject matching the description walking away from the CBD Wellness Center. Damage was discovered at all three businesses.  The suspect fled from police on a bicycle then on foot, but was apprehended and taken into custody.

The suspect was a 14 year old juvenile on probation for previous crimes. 

He was charged with attempted burglary and resisting, and detained at a juvenile detention center.
