ST. LOUIS – Three Southern Illinois baseball student-athletes were named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, the MVC office announced Wednesday. Mathieu Vallee earned a spot on the First Team while Jake Allgeyer and Aidan Foeller were named to the Second Team.

Vallee wrapped up his second season with the Salukis and led the team with a .341 batting average in 59 games in the outfield. The senior had 78 hits, including 12 doubles and five home runs while driving in 41 runs and scoring 56 times for the Dawgs. Vallee also drew 40 walks – one of just two Salukis to reach the mark while going 15-for-16 on stolen base attempts.

The Saint-Joseph-Du-Lac, Québec native earned All-MVC Honorable Mention accolades and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team. He graduates from SIU with a 3.79 cumulative GPA and a degree in university studies.

Allgeyer started in all 60 of the Salukis games this season in the infield. The Channahon, Illinois native hit .289 to go with a .425 slugging percentage and a .421 on-base percentage. His 46 walks drawn led the team and ranked in the top-50 nationally. Allgeyer had 66 base hits, including 14 doubles and six home runs while going a perfect 11-of-11 on stolen bases. Allgeyer graduates from Southern with a 3.77 cumulative GPA in university studies.

A Nesbit, Mississippi product, Foeller finished his first season with the Salukis with a 5-3 record and a 4.52 ERA. The right-hander made 15 starts on the mound for SIU, pitching 77.2 innings. He led the MVC with 105 punchouts and ranked in the top-30 nationally in strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings (12.17). He recorded 12 or more strikeouts on five different occasions and held opponents to a .249 batting average against.

Foeller earned Second Team All-MVC accolades and earned a spot on the MVC All-Tournament Team after pitching 10 innings and striking out 14 batters over two games in Evansville. He holds a 3.50 cumulative GPA in university studies.
