John A. Logan pitcher and Carterville native Drew Pestka signed with the Cincinnati Reds over the weekend.  Pestka was an 18th round draft pick in 2023 and agreed to terms to start his pro career on Saturday after two years with the Vols.

After a strong freshman season with 85 strikeouts and a 3.69 ERA, Pestka received notice from scouts and was subsequently selected by the Reds organization.

His sophomore year, Pestka saw a bit of a slump, only striking out 58 batters and had a 4.60 ERA.  Part of the down year was due to a late start to the season.
