CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois men’s basketball coach Scott Nagy picked up his third signing of the offseason on Monday as the Salukis officially welcomed Rolyns Aligbe to the Saluki family. Aligbe joins forward Jaheem Webber and guard Drew Steffe in Nagy’s initial recruiting class.
“We’re very excited for Rolyns to join us. Like so many kids we have recruited over the years, we feel like he is very under-recruited and has a lot of potential,” Nagy said. “He gives us more size to our roster, and we think he’s going to develop into a great college player.”
Aligbe, a 6-foot-9 forward from Minneapolis, Minnesota, helped lead Winchendon School, a prep school in Massachusetts to a 23-10 record and the semifinals in the NEPSAC Tournament.
Aligbe averaged 17.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from behind the arc while at Winchendon. He earned All-Conference honors while also being named First Team All-NEPSAC.
He spent four seasons at Minnehaha Academy in Minnesota where he earned All-State honors during his senior season. Aligbe was also named to the All-State Tournament Team after helping lead the Redhawks to a state finals runner-up finish in his final season.
