CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois men’s basketball coach Scott Nagy announced the signing of Drew Steffe on Tuesday. The 6-foot-5 guard comes to Carbondale from Texas Tech and joins big man Jaheem Webber in Nagy’s initial recruiting class.
Steffe was ranked a consensus 4-star shooting guard by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports, On3, The Circuit, and MADE Hoops. The signing marks the first 4-star recruit signed by Southern Illinois since forward Anthony Booker in 2008.
“We’re very excited to sign Drew to our team. He’s the first player that we have gotten out of the portal, and we think that will give us momentum going forward,” Nagy said. “He has the ability to do so many things on the court, but he also fills a big need that we have in terms of his ability to shoot the basketball. With the way the three-point line has changed the game, we know he’ll certainly help our inside players by being out there.”
