COLP, Ill. (WJPF) – Two self-admitted members of a Chicago street gang have been arrested in Williamson County on drug and gun charges.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says Victor Hurd and LaShawn Walker were arrested without a fight during a raid on home in Colp Friday morning. Both men told police they were member of the Gangster Disciples, a Chicagoland street gang thought to have nearly 30,000 members in Chicago with several thousand more members in at least 35 other states.
According to the sheriff’s office, inside of the home deputies found six guns, 60.1 grams of crack cocaine, 71.03 grams of powder cocaine, 6.77 grams of methamphetamine, and 7.65 grams of cannabis. Police also say they found a kitchen cooktop lab used to make the crack cocaine and over $2,300 in cash.
Victor Hurd was arrested on charges of possession of controlled substance (100 – 400 grams), delivery of a controlled substance (100 – 400 grams), possession of methamphetamine (5 – 15 grams), aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hurd was also arrested on an outstanding full extradition arrest warrant out of Cook County for fraud. LaShawn Walker was arrested on charges of possession of controlled substance (100 – 400 grams), delivery of controlled substance (100 – 400 grams), aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession drug paraphernalia. Both men were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
