CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A 17-year-old boy is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Route 13 in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police say it happened around 4:00 a.m. Saturday in an area between Giant City Road and McKinney Avenue.  They say the 17-year-old was not walking in a crosswalk when they were struck. Their identity has not yet been released.

Police say the driver cooperated with the investigation and is not facing charges at this time.
