DU QUOIN, Ill. (WJPF) – Two people had to be flown to regional hospitals after they were hit by a train in Du Quoin.

Police say two pedestrians were hit by an Amtrak train around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators are still trying to determine why they were on the tracks.

The accident delayed the southbound City of New Orleans for about one hour.
