HARRISBURG, Ill. (WJPF) – A Gallatin County man, convicted of sex crimes against a child, has been sentenced to 60 years in state prison.

The charges against Tylar Lewis, 24, of Shawneetown, date back to January 2018 and involve an eight-month-old baby.

Prosecutors say Lewis hit, bit, and burned the child with a cigarette. The child was treated for injuries all over their body, including tearing of the mouth and genitals.

In addition to 60 years in prison, Tylar Lewis was also ordered to pay over $25,000 in fines.
