After an exciting Week 1 in the high school football season, the Mt. Vernon Rams remain atop the John A. Logan College Little Egypt Football Poll thanks to a 55-41 shootout victory at Waterloo.
Carterville stepped up in their Top 5 matchup at Benton last week and impressed enough with a 27-12 victory to move up to the #2 slot and pushing Benton to tumble down to #9, the largest drop in this week’s poll.
The Harrisburg Bulldogs had the largest jump of the week. The Bulldogs appeared to be dead-even with Anna-Jonesboro in the first quarter but the Bulldogs quickly pulled away and won 39-14.
The Du Quoin Indians stormed into Chester Saturday night and walked out with a 48-20 victory over the Yellow Jackets. That victory did enough to earn a spot in the Top 10.
