JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Two people were hurt in a single car crash in rural Jackson County.

It happened at about 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of Hickory Ridge Road and Cox Road. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says Erik Mota, 21, was behind the wheel when the vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree.

Mota was taken to a local hospital. A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old George Douglas, was flown to a St. Louis hospital. Erik Mota was also cited for driving with a suspended license.
