CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A Cairo man has been arrested in connection to a murder last year in Carbondale.
Daurice Morse, 20, faces a charge of first degree murder in the shooting death of Jacob Gary. Police say on October 23, 2022, 19-year-old Jacob Gary was part of a large crowd that had gathered in the 200 block of West College Street. A fight broke out and shots were fired. Gary died at a local hospital.
Daurice Morse was indicted by the Jackson County State’s Attorney in November 2022. He was taken into custody on Tuesday in Texas with the help of the US Marshals.
