
One person has been injured and a suspect arrested after an altercation outside a bar in Marion.
Police officers responded to a report of shots fired at the America’s Best Value Inn and Heartland Sports Bar early Thursday morning.
Officers located a man lying in the grass on the southside of the parking lot bleeding from the head with a handgun lying nearby on the ground.
The victim, Steven Sheets of Indiana was transported to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale then on to a hospital in St. Louis
As a result of the investigation, 34 year old David Jennings of Benton was arrested for Aggravated Battery.
Officers learned at some point during the altercation, a weapon was discharged, but no one was struck from the gunfire.
Jennings was transported to the Williamson County Jail.
