MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – The race for treasurer in Williamson County is attracting statewide attention after it was discovered that two different candidates, both named Ashley Gott, will be on the Republican primary ballot.

The “first” Ashely Gott was appointed treasurer in 2019 after the retirement of Brinson Venable. He’s now running for re-election. The “second” Ashley Gott, was formerly known as Erin Perry. She changed her name on January 6, 2022. She’ll appear as Ashley Gott on the ballot, with a “formally known as” notation near her name.

A third candidate for Williamson County Treasurer, Rob Underwood, will also appear on the Republican primary ballot.
