Monday the Illinois High School Board of Directors met for their regularly scheduled meeting.  The most significant item involving Southern Illinois sports at the meeting involved the prep football postseason.

The IHSA Board of Directors approved a 1-32 playoff seeding format in Class 1A through Class 6A.  The format is already used in 7A and 8A, classes that are predominantly populated by schools in the suburbs of Chicago.

In years past, 1A thru 6A have been split into North and South brackets seeded 1-16.  This has helped cut down traveling from one end of the state to the other in early postseason.
